What's the reason for the merger between University of Kalmar and Växjö University?
Linnaeus University is the result of the desire to increase the quality, attractiveness and developmental potential for teaching and research at both seats of learning. Together we’ll be stronger!
How will the launch of Linnaeus University affect me as an existing student at University of Kalmar or Växjö University?
Regardless of whether you have been admitted to University of Kalmar or Växjö University you are guaranteed the opportunity to complete your course at Linnaeus University, at the campus where you were initially accepted. The transition will take place automatically and you will not need to resubmit any additional application form.
Degree certificates will be issued by Linnaeus University after 1st January 2010. This applies regardless of whether you began your studies in Kalmar or in Växjö. Degree awarding rights currently held by University of Kalmar and Växjö University will automatically be transferred to Linnaeus University.
Will my course be moved to a different geographical location?
Degree programmes at first level will be offered at both locations. This means that as a student you will be able to complete your studies at the campus where you were initially registered unless otherwise stated.
What advantages will Linnaeus University give you as an existing student?
Optional courses at second level will be offered both in Växjö and Kalmar which will provide you with access to an extensive range of courses, in which case it might be possible to change from one campus to another to study individual courses. There will be an increase in the number of research environments at Linnaeus University which will enrich your education even further.
If you are interested in studies abroad, the merger will involve an increase in the options available to you. Both existing universities’ international partner universities will be available for all students of Linnaeus University.
