Open University 7 December: Jan Hjärpe, Reflections on the Arab Spring

Jan Hjärpe, professor in Islamic studies at Lund University is considered to be Sweden’s leading expert on the Middle East and political Islam.

How can we understand these events we call the Arab Spring? How did we end up in a situation of collective mass action against regimes that have held power for decades and where do we go from here?

In this open University Jan Hjärpe will present a reflective analysis on the events of this passed year and discuss possible scenarios of the future.
