Professor Ashraf W. Labib from University of Portsmouth will visit Linnaeus University and May 6 he will give a presentation of The Decision Making Grid...
The Decision Making Grid: An Integrated and Intelligent Model for the Selection of the Right Maintenance Strategies
The presentation is from 10.00 to 12.00 in M3082, Källemo.
In this presentation we demonstrate the applicability of the decision
making grid (DMG) as a source for computational intelligence and
selection of appropriate strategy for maintenance decisions. In
today’s economic conditions, the only way to sustain and increase
capacity without acquisition of new assets is through an effective
management of existing ones. Managers tend to spend a vast amount
of capital in the acquisition of information systems for data collection
about their assets, yet the added value of these systems to the business
is questionable. Through experience with companies it has been
observed that practitioners are often confronted with many
maintenance related strategies and it is difficult to select the most
appropriate one for a given asset in a given environment. The
Decision Making Grid (DMG) is an attempt to join the jigsaw puzzle
of maintenance strategies based on data collected about the
performance of equipment, and it offers a cohesive model for the
selection of maintenance strategies in an intuitive and appealing way.
In short, the DMG model helps in the selection of appropriate
maintenance strategies. We will also demonstrate the application of
the DMG through case studies in different industries.
