Level: Second level

Subject: Bioenergy Technology

Department: Department of Buildning and Energy Technology

Course code: 4BT001

To combat global warming, bioenergy is one primary step and one of the simplest ones to introduce. Biofuels – solid, liquid or gaseous – can be produced from most any kind of biomass originating from silviculture, from agriculture or from societal circulation of biological material. In a world where productive agricultural land is becoming more and more of a scarce resource, the choice of raw material for fuel production is becoming crucial. Hence, the assessment of the resource base must be given due consideration before a new energy supply system, based on biomass, is introduced.

After the course, the student shall be able to read, digest and analyse with a critical mind the conclusion and understand the implicit assumptions in qualified reports and research papers concerning assessments of biomass resources for energy production.
The course is only offered in English and only as a web based distance learning course and there are no physical meetings in the course.
