Level: Second Level

Department: Faculty of Arts and Humanities

The Master Programme in Design is an advanced-level two-year programme within Design, the main field of study.

Design involves innovation and creativity. Design makes an impact and calls in question the state of things. Design challenges ideas and emotions. Design can enhance human life quality and exert an influence on society and industry.
In the Design Master Programme we work with projects in close cooperation with designers, established companies and the community. By developing your talents and professional profile you will acquire a deeper knowledge of the artistic and strategic aspects of the design profession.

You will deepen your knowledge of design and design thinking. You will also improve your capacity to structure and prioritize ideas as well as your proficiency to successfully motivate and communicate concepts. You will further develop your ability to reflect and express yourself in speech and writing. You will learn more about design methods, while acquiring tools for understanding needs and possibilities and for building up your creative processes, individually as well as in team work.
We work with consumer experience, strategic design and developing design idioms and design guidelines. We collaborate with other universities in Sweden and abroad, for instance through study exchange programmes.

Our goal is to create a study culture where innovative ideas may develop by encouraging experiments and innovation and by a challenging and open-minded approach.

Your future

Students are expected to develop their artistic and personal maturity as well as a responsible attitude to the design profession. As a result you will be well prepared to work in an explorative way with concept development, prototyping and implementation in complex projects on an international market and in a leading role.
