Idrottspsykologi

Psykologi inriktning idrott, eller idrottspsykologi, integrerar på ett naturligt sätt kunskaper från det naturvetenskapliga och det beteendevetenskapliga området. Idrottspsykologi handlar om människors upplevelser, känslor, beteenden och tankar i relation till idrotts- och motionsaktiviteter.


I ett holistiskt perspektiv fokuserar idrottspsykologisk forskning på psykologiska faktorer som främjar motivation, hälsa, välbefinnande och prestation. Vidare betonas utvecklingspsykologiska och socialpsykologiska frågor vid studiet av individ och grupp. Forskning vid Högskolan i Halmstad fokuserar tillämpade frågeställningar kring framförallt karriärövergångar, skaderehabilitering och prevention.

Idrottspsykologisk forskning vid Högskolan i Halmstad (HH) utförs primärt av Professor Natalia Stambulova, docent Urban Johnson, docent Magnus Lindwall (deltid vid HH) samt Fil. Lic. Hansi Hinic.

Idrottares utveckling och karriärövergångar

Professor Natalia Stambulova är en av världens ledande forskare inom området “idrottares utveckling och karriärövergångar” (eng. athletes’ career development and transitions). Under de senaste tjugo åren har Stambulova specifikt studerat utvecklingspsykologiska perspektiv på idrottares ingång i tävlingsidrotten, etableringen i tävlingsidrotten samt perioden efter idrottskarriärens slut. Hon har organiserat flera forskningssymposier kring “idrottares utveckling och karriärövergångar” vid internationella konferenser i idrottspsykologi de senaste 10 åren, t ex European Congress, 2003, 2007 och World Congress, 2001, 2005, 2009). Professor Stambulova är för närvarande vice president i International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP). Under det senaste decenniet har hon även fungerat i the Editorial Board för Psychology of Sport and Exercise, vilken är den ledande idrottspsykologiska journalen i Europa.

Psykologiska perspektiv på prevention och rehabilitering efter idrottsskada

Docent Urban Johnson är en internationellt erkänd forskare med drygt 15 års forskningsverksamhet inom området “psykologiska perspektiv på prevention och rehabilitering efter idrottsskada”.

12 större projekt

Professor Stambulova har varit involverad (mestadels som projektledare) i 12 större projekt inom forskningsområdet. Exempel är: European Perspectives on Athletic Retirement samt Perceived Health and Sport Participation; Athletes’ Transition from Junior to Senior Sports: A Longitudinal Study i samarbete med forskare vid Leipzig University, Tyskland, Paris IX University, Frankrike samt University of Vilnuis, Litauien). Docent Johnson samarbetar på det internationella planet med kollegor vid Victoria University, Melbourne, Australien och Technological University of Lisbon, Portugal. Johnson har organiserat flera internationella symposier kring idrottsskadans psykologi de senaste 10 år t ex vid Europeiska och internationella kongresser 2001, 2003 och 2007). Han har också omfattande regionala, nationella och internationella kontakter och nätverk, t ex med Hallands Idrottsförbund, Riksidrottsförbundet, Europeiska (FEPSAC) och Internationella idrottspsykologiförbundet. Den idrottspsykologiska gruppen vid HH har sedan 2002 ett betydande nätverk med 12 andra universitet i Europa kring involvering i European Master’s Program in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Detta faktum adderar den internationella synligheten för gruppen och ger möjlighet till unika forskningssamarbeten med ledande Universitet i Europa.

Doktorander

För närvarande handleder Professor Stambulova en doktorand inom projektet ”Ecology of Talent Development in Sport” genom extern finansiering från Syddansk Universitet, Danmark. Flera av Professor Stambulovas projekt finansieras genom Centrum för Idrottsvetenskap (CIF). Docent Johnson erhåller reguljärt externa forskningsmedel från bl a CIF. För närvarande är docent Johnson sekreterare för FEPSAC. Johnson handleder två doktorander (Karolinska Institutet samt Örebro Universitet) samt är bihandledare till ytterligare två doktorander .
