Linnaeus University receives the right to award bachelor of arts degrees in music
The School of Cultural Sciences received the right to award bachelor of arts degrees in music on 30th November. This means that students can now opt for a third year with a specialism in music.
– This is an historic moment, said deputy head of department and senior lecturer Dan Alkenäs, and one of the faculty members who has pushed for the right to award bachelor of arts degress in music.
Possibilities to develop new specialisms
The bachelor of arts degree in music provides opportunities to develop the existing degree programme with different specialities. Currently music production is the specialism which is most in focus but there are plans to develop other specialisms such as arranging and composition.
Students put the spotlight on their expertise
For students, this means that they can qualify for a degree with a specific reference to their expertise, providing the opportunity to continue with studies at master's level.
Music Studio open house
In connection with the recognition of degree awarding powers for the bachelor of arts degree in music, the music studio in Växjö will be threw open its doors on 6th December.
