Ministers in attendance at Linnaeus University conference

Sweden's minister for the environment Lena Ek together with her counterpart from the Seychelles, Rolph Payet, recently took part in the Changing Coasts and Oceans conference hosted by Linnaeus University.

The conference was organised by the School of Natural Sciences over 13th-14th September in conjunction with the Fojo Institute of Further Education for Journalists.

Rolph Payet received his PhD at Kalmar University (which later merged with Växjö University to form Linnaeus University) and returned to the University this time as a government minister. Dr Payet gave a keynote speech on 13th September entitled The importance of capacity building and awareness rising in developing coastal regions.

In addition to his keynote presentation, Dr Payet participated in the final panel discussion which rounded off the conference together with Lena Ek, journalists and researchers from countries bordering the Indian Ocean.
