Everyone over the age of 18 may borrow from the library
Library card
Students registered at a university in Sweden receive a library card by showing a valid photo ID. The card’s validity period is 3 years but can be extended.Staff at Linnaeus University receive a library card by showing a valid photo ID. The card is valid for 10 years or as long as you are employed by the university. Your card’s validity will be extended as long as you are employed by the university.
Members of the public receive a library card by showing a valid photo ID. The card will be valid for 3 years and but can be extended. Inter-library loans should be arranged with your local public library.
- You are responsible for all loans made in your name. Always report loss of card.
- You must keep informed of any changes to the loan regulations
- Report any changes in name, address or e-mail to the library.
- You can collect your reserved books yourself if you agree to them being placed on an open shelf at the library. You can choose this option when you apply for a library card. If you do not choose this option you must collect your books from our reception desk.
Loan regulations
- The loan period for course books is 14 days for students, staff and the general public. Distance students living outside Kalmar/Växjö municipality have a 21 days loan period, including postal delivery. The loan period can be extended.
- The loan period for general loans is 30 days for students and the public. Students and public can extend the loan period. For staff at Lnu the loan period is 30-365 days, meaning that books can be kept for up to 365 days if no one requests the books. The loan period can not be extended.
- The loan period for AV material (CD, DVD, VHS) is 7 days for students and staff at Linnaeus University.
- It is your responsibility to check the status of your loans at "My Account" as well as return dates and that all your loans are cleared when they are returned to the library.
- Fees for late return apply for all literature and AV material.
- Your library card may be blocked if you have unpaid fees.
- If the material is not returned you will be charged for a replacement copy, fee for late return plus administration costs.
- Unpaid debts will be passed on to a debt collection agency.
Information about an individual's loans, reservations and requests is never released to a third party. This information is protected by Secrecy Law as stated in chapter 40, paragraph 3 (SFS 2009:400)
By approving the loan conditions when applying for your library card, you agree to abide by all loan rules and regulations set forth by Linnaeus University Library.
