Scientific Methodology and Planning

The course is given within the master program in Sustainable Structural Engineering. The aim of the course is to give the students basic theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out advanced project works in engineering science and to present results in written technical reports. This course introduces the planning of technical research project, scientific theory, research methodology and ethics, searching for references, scientific articles and report writing. After completion of this course, students will be able to identify research questions and suitable scientific methods, critically assess the state-of-the-art and account for previous research, and finally be able to write scientific articles and technical reports. The knowledge gained in this course will be applied in the master thesis work.
