Advanced Microeconomics
7.5 creditsThe course builds on students' prior knowledge of standard microeconomics. It aims to give a deeper understanding of microeconomics issues that are relevant for economic analysts, political decision makers and future economists. The course revisits classical microeconomics issues and policy recommendations in a more analytical way than basic courses. In addition, selected methods and topics will be analyzed in a deeper and more rigorous way. One of those methods is game theory, the analysis of strategic decision making. After teaching the basic tools of game theory, the course will use those methods to analyze important problems, like contract design, auctions, promotion competition, or collusion in oligopoly markets.
