This is a course for those who want to learn more about collecting, analyzing and moderating user-generated material from social media. Social media users publish a variety of materials and data. This user-generated material is used by both individuals and organizations with different purposes. But knowledge and skills are needed to research, understand and use this material in an ethical way. In the course you will learn about various relevant research traditions with a special focus on user-generated material from social media. This means both methodological and analytical knowledge and an understanding of different ethical perspectives.

The course is aimed at those who want to learn more about moderating user-generated material from social media in your journalism and / or professional activities. This means that you will learn about important conditions, such as the principle of publicity, as well as journalistic ethical principles. In addition, you can try to make a journalistic production that includes user-generated material.

On the course you will receive different types of distance education. For individual parts, you are expected to take part in pre-recorded lectures. These lectures, which give an overview of an area, are used in conjunction with instructed course literature to answer specific questions. In a project work you work with at least one more person. Resources are provided here as guidance and seminars via the course website. Reporting takes place in webinars. "
