Communication Strategies and Journalistic Coverage in Times of War
7.5 credits
How are media and communications shaping armed conflicts? How are conflicts made visible in the news media in different national and transnational settings? How does the media serve as a means by which various actors manage and communicate conflict?
From the multi-level Ukraine conflict back to the Vietnam war, students will use a variety of disciplinary perspectives and analytical approaches to address the ways in which traditional mass media and new media are involved in narrating and shaping conflict/crisis.
