The techniques needed to protect sensitive information against adversaries belong to the field of cryptography. Coding theory is used to encode the data in such a way, that errors occurring during the transmission of the data is detected and maybe also corrected. This course introduces the student to the theory of cryptography and coding, and gives an orientation to some common cryptosystems and coding algorithms.
