Entrepreneurship and Business Development in Africa

7.5 credits

The recent fast growth of African markets has attracted attention from foreign firms looking for new markets as the developed markets have become saturated. Companies are entering African markets not only for raw materials and natural resources, but to establish sales, manufacturing and outsourcing. The liberalization of African markets has allowed local entrepreneurship to boom. Many social, political, and economic changes are taking place that provide massive potentials but also risks due to the early development phase of most African countries. Developing business and business success in Africa would benefit both the foreign companies’ profits and the African economies. Social entrepreneurship is one area in which local and foreign actors are building enterprises to support the local economy. The course intends to provide understanding, analysis, models, and business plans for business and social entrepreneurship success in Africa.

Distance – study where you are

Perhaps you would like to study in the Swedish mountains, in a big city, or at home close to family? Many of our programmes and courses are offered in distance format.

Studying at a distance can be done in different ways, either entirely without physical gatherings or with only a few gatherings on campus or at one of our learning centres. The common denominator is that a large part of your studies takes place online. You communicate with the teacher and other students through a learning platform that includes discussion forums, opportunities for group work, and digital meetings. In many cases, you will also have access to recorded lectures via the learning platform.

The benefit of distance studies is the flexibility, something that is valuable if you want to be free to decide when and where you want to study. Some compulsory elements on you course or programme may take place during office hours, even though they are online.
