German Migrant Literature

7.5 credits

Have you studied 1-90 credits, three semesters of German? Longing for more? Here is a course of 7.5 credits!

Since the 1960s, extensive labor and family immigration, mainly from Italy and Turkey, has taken place in Germany. Of the nearly 3 million Turks living in Germany, today almost half are born in the country. Berlin is the city with the largest proportion of Turks outside Turkey. In this course, we read books by authors who describe Germany's cultural peculiarities based on their own frames of reference. They move between two cultures and many do so with witty humor and astute analysis.

Interested? The course is given entirely on line and we meet by video meeting every two or three weeks one afternoon a week to discuss the literature read. All you need to get are the books, have a good connection, a computer and a headset. We work via the distance tool Zoom and the learning platform MyMoodle. In the syllabus on the website, you will find the reading list and other information about the course.

Distance – study where you are

Perhaps you would like to study in the Swedish mountains, in a big city, or at home close to family? Many of our programmes and courses are offered in distance format.

Studying at a distance can be done in different ways, either entirely without physical gatherings or with only a few gatherings on campus or at one of our learning centres. The common denominator is that a large part of your studies takes place online. You communicate with the teacher and other students with the help of a learning platform with discussion forums, group work, recorded lectures and online meetings.

The benefit of distance studies is the flexibility, something that is valuable if you want to be free to decide when and where you want to study. Some compulsory elements on you course or programme may take place during office hours, even though they are online.
