The course is positioned on the global expansion of enterprises (business, social and non-profit organizations), that is strategy and business operations towards firms, organizations and other market actors, excluding strategy and business operations towards individual consumers. These actors include suppliers, customers, agents, sub-contractors, public and private actors who influence business, regulators, governmental institutions, and culture. The course discusses the role of network relationships in the internationalization of small knowledge-intensive Enterprises (SKIEs) by highlighting their local and often spatially concentrated network relationships, which can serve as a significant local resource. Little is known in this regard with respect to a cultural economy context. Primarily based on an inclusion of live-cases from the Nordic Area. Two issues are dealt with in the course: (a) how local network relationships – such as those within clusters or industrial districts – are developed and (b) the impact that these relationships have on the internationalization of SKIEs, specifically in respect to enhancing international competitiveness. Three effects of local network relationships on the internationalization of SKIFs, viz., reputation-related, quality-related and networking benefits, are highlighted.
The course period starts with Welcome and Orientation Programme 12-13 July, 2019
In Kalmar, Linnaeus University is located in the city centre. Universitetskajen is entirely newly-built and located just next to the sea. Here you become part of a creative knowledge environment.
The city centre is also where most students live. Everything is available within a ten-minute bicycle ride, regardless of whether you want to take a swim in the sea, study, do some shopping, or work out. Historical buildings and cobblestone streets give charm to the city. When it is sunny, the area next to Kalmar Castle’s moat is filled with studying and sunbathing students. Student life is a natural part of Kalmar. This is where your dream of the future begins!
