The course provides knowledge and skill for dimensioning and design of different types of transmissions and related parts. The lectures will cover theories about gear transmissions, chain transmissions, belt transmissions, rolling-element bearings, shaft design, mechanical joints etc. The design methodology and design process will be applied during the team work activities in the design project. Also standards and company catalogues will be used during the dimensioning and design work. The design project is the backbone of the course where each group has to deliver a technical report including dimensioning calculations, text descriptions, drawings etc. The graduation of the course will be based on the project report.
