The course Music & Event Management II – Internship will give an opportunity to gain practical experience and knowledge from the music and event industry or related areas. The course consists of internship for a minimum of 10 weeks full time or part-time for 20 weeks (other time schedules are possible in consultation with the teacher). The Swedish program students are responsible themselves to find a business, organization etcetera for an internship, but the teacher can be of assistance. The teacher will help the exchange students to find a relevant internship. The teacher has to give an approval of the choice in question. The aim of the course is to learn about and understand working processes, competence, structures, organization, cultures etcetera in the music and event industry by participation and work. To fulfil the aim the student also has to gather empirical material related to the internship and write two progress reports and one final report where the material are analytically presented with the help of theoretical literature chosen from the literature list in the course plan.
The city of Kalmar is situated on the southeast coast of Sweden. Kalmar is a beautiful city with 65,000 inhabitants and a long history dating back to the Middle Ages, with many cosy neighbourhoods and great charm. The lush green areas surrounding Kalmar Castle and the city park are many students' favourite.
The proximity to the ocean and the island of Öland has left its mark on the city and there are many long pedestrian paths along the coast. It is never far to anything in Kalmar and most places can be reached in just 5-10 minutes' walk – the university, the ocean, the gym, or the city centre, Kvarnholmen.
In Kalmar the university buildings and student accommodations are spread throughout the town and are well integrated with the historical surroundings – making students feel part of the town.
