Outdoor activities and sports are an increasing part of the Swedish recreation content today. In Sweden we have “The Swedish right of public access” that gives us very good possibilities to use nature as an arena for outdoor activities and sports.

This increases the load on our natural recourses and requires an understanding of how to use nature in a sustainable way.

This course will focus on the sustainable use of nature resources in outdoor activities and sports.

The course aims are to provide knowledge in an interdisciplinary perspective on nature's opportunities for physical activity, outdoor recreation and sports.

Different contents will be:

• Interdisciplinary approach, e.g. Swedish nature, sports and culture

• Responsible management and safety routines of outdoor activities

• Experiential learning

• The Swedish right of public access

In Kalmar, Linnaeus University is located in the city centre. Universitetskajen is entirely newly-built and located just next to the sea. Here you become part of a creative knowledge environment.

The city centre is also where most students live. Everything is available within a ten-minute bicycle ride, regardless of whether you want to take a swim in the sea, study, do some shopping, or work out. Historical buildings and cobblestone streets give charm to the city. When it is sunny, the area next to Kalmar Castle’s moat is filled with studying and sunbathing students. Student life is a natural part of Kalmar. This is where your dream of the future begins!
