Philosophy of Science and Research Methods in Media and Communication Studies

The course, offered as both a free and mandatory component within the Master's program "Media, Democracy, and Human Rights" (180 credits), is designed to deepen students' understanding and expertise in media and communication science, particularly from a social sciences and and humanistic perspectives.
Students will acquire advanced knowledge of theoretical perspectives and research methodologies within media and communication science, emphasizing the importance of scientific communication and ethical research practices. The curriculum focuses on critical analysis of methodological approaches, problem identification, and formulation of research questions relevant to media and communication science. Additionally, it nurtures an independent and critical stance towards knowledge production, emphasizing research's societal significance, especially concerning democracy and human rights.
