Psycholinguistics and experimental design

In this course students develop basic knowledge of modern psycholinguistic theories and methods related to current research in cognitive science and neuroscience. We look at the perception and understanding of spoken and written language, the production of spoken language, vocabulary and mental representation of concepts, and children’s language acquisition. The course also discusses the actors and processes involved in language comprehension, language production and children’s and adults’ first¬and second¬language learning. Moreover, we look at how psycholinguistic research questions are formulated and answered through experimental methods.
