Systems modeling and simulation

What is modeling? What is simulation? What is simulation modeling and analysis? What types of problems are suitable for simulation? What are the benefits and pitfalls in modeling and simulation? These, and many others, critical questions are answered in this Course, which presents an introduction to computational and mathematical techniques for modeling, simulating, and analyzing the performance of various systems using simulation.
In particular, the course introduces Discrete-Event Simulation, a form of computer-aided model building and problem-solving approach extensively used in many disciplines from engineering, business, management, and economics. The goal is insight, a better understanding of how systems operate and respond to change.
