This course provides an overview of policy and law regarding sustainable development. The course begins with the study and analysis of the concept ‘sustainable development’ and its development over time in international agreements. In connection to this, the course covers principles of international law related to sustainable development. The focus then shifts to cover practical aspects of sustainable development. The implementation of international agreements and the issue of how to distribute responsibility between states, business corporations and consumers are examples of topics for discussion.
