This course gives students an insight into some of the current research topics in labour economics. Topics that will be covered include for example earnings inequality, discrimination, intergenerational mobility, entrepreneurship, and the impact of labour market policy. The purpose of the course is to give students an understanding of the research frontier in labour economics. The course will have a significant empirical component and survey some of the major issues in applied modern research. The course will provide students with the skills and ability to discuss and critically evaluate current research published in high-quality scientific journals.
