The School of Business and Economics is responsible for the subjects Business Administration and Economics at Linnaeus University. In these subjects, the business school offers education at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Education at the undergraduate level is mainly conducted within the school´s program portfolio, which contains program in marketing, tourism, entrepreneurship, international business, economics, retail, logistics, HRM, management etc.

Job description business administration

The PhD student in Business Administration is funded by scholarship by Kalmar Handlande Borgares Donation Fund, and comprises four years full-time studies, and is located at Linnaeus University campus Kalmar, where the doctoral student, in line with the regulations of the financier, must also be resident. The PhD student will be included in either one of the knowledge platforms "GlobalMind" or "Leadership and Organizational Development". GlobalMind is a knowledge platform that integrates research, education and collaboration in international business and corporate competitiveness. The focus is on international marketing, strategy and international entrepreneurship, in both mature and emerging markets. The “Leadership and organizational development” is a knowledge platform that produces and disseminates interdisciplinary, research-based knowledge in order to facilitate the development and success of organizations in both public and private sectors. The focus areas of the knowledge platform include (but are not limited to) leadership in and of organizations, management of knowledge-intensive work, human resource management and organizational creativity and renewal.

Requirements business administration
General requirements 

  • a completed master’s degree
  • completed courses equaling at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 at second-cycle level, or
  • equivalent qualifications obtained in some other way in Sweden or other country.

Specific requirements

  • a minimum of 90 higher education credits within the field of economics or subject fields related to third-cycle education in economics, or equivalent qualifications obtained in some other way in Sweden or other country.
  • demonstrate English skills of sufficiently high level

Assessment grounds business administration
The candidates are assessed based on their perceived ability to successfully complete their doctoral studies. In the assessment, include the candidates’ scientific skills through the quality of scientific work and grades in courses. Also, the degree of oral and written communication skills as demonstrated e.g. in interviews and written communication. The assessment also takes into account applicants' established dissertation plan specified at below of this advertisement.

Conditions of employment of business administration
No employment. The doctoral student studies in business administration are financed through the scholarships listed in the job description and refer to full-time postgraduate education for four years.

(vi) A dissertation plan within the focus area shall be included in the application.
