Zhen comes from China but moved to her family in Kalmar. She is currently studying Swedish at Linnaeus University.
“My goal is to be able to speak Swedish with my family and friends. I also want to learn the language to make it easier to get a job here in Sweden”, says Zhen.
She describes the courses as often involving group work, with lots of opportunities to practise speaking Swedish. The course participants come from many different countries, which Zhen really appreciates.
”In addition to the university courses, I’m taking SFI courses at komvux and I’ve recommended the courses here at Linnaeus University to all my komvux classmates. For me, it’s important to learn Swedish and I really enjoy studying at the university", says Zhen.
She says that in addition to studying the Swedish language, she and her fellow students have also learnt about what defines Swedish culture. For instance, they have tried typical Swedish food together. This is something Zhen believes adds a lot to the university studies.
