Borrowing and ordering

Anyone above the age of 18 may borrow materials from the Linnaeus University Library. You need to apply for a library account either via this website or on the computers near the library information desk at the library. Use your student/Lnu account to log in and identify yourself.

Applying for a library account

Linnaeus University students and staff members can apply for a library account here. The form is also available on computers near the library information desk. You use your student/Lnu account to log in and identify yourself.

Loan periods:

  • The loan period for course literature is 7 days with automatic renewals up to 16 weeks.
  • The loan period for general loans is 21 days with automatic renewals up to 52 weeks.
  • To allow for postal time, 7 extra days are added to loans and renewals made by distance students who live outside the municipalities of Kalmar and Växjö.

Reservations and orders

You can use OneSearch to reserve books that are currently out on loan. Through OneSearch you can also order books that are available at the other location (Kalmar or Växjö). It might take a few days for the book to arrive. You will be notified when the book is available for collection.

Copies of articles from journals available at the University Library's other location can be ordered. Look up the journal in OneSearch and use the order form. You will be notified when the copy of the article is available for collection.

If you require books or articles that are not available at the University Library you can suggest a purchase / order an interlibrary loan.

Return books

Return the books in the library's check-in machines. You will get a return receipt directly from the check-in machine - paper receipt or sent to your e-mail.
If the library is closed, books can be returned in the book drops. In Kalmar you can find the book drop at the entrance of Stella and in Växjö the book drop is placed outside the library entrance. The book drops are open 24 hours a day.
