Nomination for badge of merit
Badges of merit are awarded to persons who in a prominent way have contributed to strengthening the vision of the creative and international research and knowledge environment promoting curiosity, creativity, companionship and utility at Linnaeus University. The badges of merit are handed out at the Academic ceremony each year. The nomination period for 2025 is now closed.
A badge of merit is an award in the form of a diploma and an amount of SEK 25,000 that is to be used for research, skills development or other activity of significance to the awarded person’s continued development within the university’s activities. The amount is to be used by the recipient within the frame of his/her appointment after consultation with the concerned head of department.
As a member of staff, you have the opportunity to nominate individuals for all awards listed below. Keep in mind that the motivation you state will form the basis for the assessment by the preparatory body and also be the motivation that will be printed on the diploma.
The decision on who will receive Linnaeus University's badge of merit is made by the vice-chancellor following deliberations in the Badge of Merit Committee, which consists of the vice-chancellor and the pro-vice-chancellor.

Research and third-cycle education

Award to prominent researcher
Awarded to researchers who have made particularly significant contributions to the university’s research and contributed to making Linnaeus University’s research known in the surrounding world.
Award: Diploma and an amount of SEK 25,000.
Responsible: Deputy vice-chancellor for research. -
Award to researcher or third-cycle student who has made significant contributions within societal driving force or for Linnaeus University in the world.
Awarded to researcher or third-cycle student who has made significant contributions to the university’s collaboration with the industry or public sector, alternatively made the university renowned abroad.
Award: Diploma and an amount of SEK 25,000.
Responsible: Vice-chancellor responsible for internationalization. -
Award to prominent supervisor within third-cycle education
Awarded to supervisor who has contributed greatly to the university’s third-cycle education.
Award: Diploma and an amount of SEK 25,000.
Responsible: Deputy vice-chancellor for research.
Education at first- and second-cycle levels
4. Award to prominent teacher for pedagogical skills
Awarded to teacher who has shown outstanding pedagogical skills of great importance to the first- and second-cycle education at the university.
Award: Diploma and an amount of SEK 25,000.
Responsible: Deputy vice-chancellor, responsible for the field of Education and Learning.
Administration
5. Award for outstanding administrative service
Awarded to technical and administrative staff for extraordinary work that has contributed to the development of university administration.
Award: Diploma and an amount of SEK 25,000.
Responsible: University director.
