Swedish for beginners
Section for higher education, in collaboration with the Department of Swedish, offers two courses and a couple of study circles for staff that need to learn Swedish.
Our courses
Beginners' Swedish, part 1 (1SV81U, 7,5 credits)
Swedish for beginners part 1 (1SV81U) will be held via Zoom on Thursdays, 3-5 p.m. with start on September 11 (teacher: Roland Lindholm).
Beginners' Swedish, part 2 (1SV82U, 7,5 credits)
A new iteration of Swedish for beginners part 2 (1SV82U) will be held via Zoom on Tuesdays, 3-5 p.m. with start on September 9 (teacher: Roland Lindholm).
Both courses deal with basic spoken and written language use in concrete, everyday situations and personal contexts.

Our Study circles
Employees who have completed both courses - or have equivalent proficiency - are offered the opportunity to participate in a study group to continue practicing their Swedish language skills, especially with a focus on material related to the higher education sector. Employees who have lived in Sweden for a long time but feel they need opportunities to practice using Swedish in a higher education context are also welcome to join the study groups.
While DSG-S (Dedicated Study Group -Start) is relatively simple, DSG-A (Dedicated Study Group – Advanced) is aimed at employees who already have a higher level of knowledge of Swedish.
We read texts, discuss several themes and work with different types of exercises. We invite representatives from different parts of the organization to talk about their activities and answer questions. In this way, we also broaden the participants' systemic knowledge of the university and its activities.
The DSG groups meet once a week via Zoom.
