Secondary employment
A core task for a higher education institution, alongside research and education, is to collaborate with wider society and communicate its activities. Linnaeus University therefore positively encourages its employees to participate in social debate and its researchers and lecturers to exchange experience with both the business world and society at large.
As a public authority it is, however, important to remain objective in dealings with citizens, which is why public servants may not hold secondary employment that adversely affects confidence, which means carrying out activities alongside their main occupation that could damage confidence in their impartiality or harm the reputation of the public authority. It is also not permitted to have secondary employment that impedes work or constitutes competition.
More information and guidance can be found in the document “Rules on secondary employment”, see link below.
