As a parent, you right to leave is regulated by the Parental Leave Act. The right to parental benefit is regulated by the National Insurance Act, and the perquisites associated with parental leave in our Terms of Agreement, as well as the Local Parental Salary Agreement.
According to the Parental Leave Act, you are entitled to full parental leave until your child turns one and a half year old. Additionally, you are entitled to parental leave during the period for which you receive parental benefit or temporary parental benefit from Försäkringskassan.
As a parent, you are entitled to reduce your working hours by up to one fourth until your child reaches 8 years of age.
As a state employee, you also have the opportunity to shorten your working hours until the end of the year during which your child reaches 12 years of age.
You shall, if possible, notify your employer of your parental leave two months before the leave is set to start.
You may cancel your leave and return to work to the same extent as before the leave. A return to work should be communicated to the employer as soon as possible, but may be delayed by one month if the leave was intended to last for longer than one month.
Parental benefit supplement will be paid in accordance with our Local Parental Salary Agreement (see appendix).
