Work process Vision 2030

Linnaeus University’s earlier strategy document; A journey into the future, covered the period up until 2020 and, therefore, work was initiated in autumn 2018 to develop a new strategy document. This work continued throughout 2019 and involved large parts of the organisation.

On 5 December, the University Board decided to establish Linnaeus University’s Vision 2030. We are now working to establish five-year goals within each respective focus area and these will be decided on by the board on 16 April. These goals will then form the basis for our operational planning for 2021.

Vision 2030 – draft goals 2025

The university’s management has now worked out a proposal on goals for 2025 and these goals are sub-targets on our journey towards Vision 2030.

Goals 2025: Regardless of each student’s respective starting point, our students have made an incredible development journey that has made them better equipped to meet and contribute to solving societal challenges.

To achieve this we must:

  • support transdisciplinary meetings and collaborations
  • further develop investigative and curiosity-driven working methods in teaching, both concerning teachers’ competence and pedagogy/ways of working
  • develop courses/programmes that meet the needs of society and strengthen our students’ driving force and level of knowledge
  • make possible and facilitate our students’ lifelong learning
  • establish new academic paths and knowledge creation through national and international collaborations.

Indicators: applicants per place and performance indicator (all programmes and a total of 90%), degree objectives xx%, teachers’ continuing professional development, teachers’ conditions, students’ merit ratings, salary, student completion

Data: Linnébarometern, doctoral student barometer and alumni barometer, statistics.

Goal 2025: Through our combined knowledge creation, we contribute increasingly with critical contributions to the work to meet the global sustainability targets.

To achieve this we must:

  • have the ability to weigh, prioritise, and plan our investments to achieve maximum effect.

Indicators: SDG, optimisation of knowledge creation. Decrease in CO2 at the rate required by our operations. 20 percent more elements in our research, education, and utility-creating collaborations each year demonstrate a clear specialisation towards solving sustainability issues = 90 percent in 2025.

Data: combined result from environmental certification, climate agreement, statistics.

Goal 2025: Knowledge environments at Linnaeus University are regionally, nationally, and internationally recognised through their successful results and ways of working.

To achieve this we must:

  • develop and value the knowledge environments’ “three-dimensional” work with research, education, and collaboration.

Indicators: share of external research funding higher than the national average, doubled research funding in five years, research performance, co-publications, open-access, THiS, publications, evaluate and follow-up collaborations, external funding, societal impact from research results, Alt metrics.

Data: annual report, statistics

Goal 2025: Linnaeus University’s innovative achievements and stories have been made visible and constitute a key development force.

Goal 2025: Linnaeus University is an attractive higher education institution and work place characterised by a common and learning way of working, respect, commitment, and active leadership.

To achieve this we must:

  • define leadership at Linnaeus University
  • work with “introduction programmes/Lnu programmes”
  • work cross-boundary between academy and administration to define common ways of working
  • have stories about our LNUCs and successful programmes with focus on successful ways of working, successful leadership, and the establishment of a successful culture.

Indicators: participation in management training, key performance indicators for leadership, work environment.
