Routines when using the acid wash room
Information from Lab Service personnel at BOM and KOB regarding usage of the common acid was room.
Before you start using the acid wash room, thoroughly read the routines and regulations regarding acid wash.
The logbook should always be filled in with Name and type of acid used (incl concentration)
IF you use other acids than ≤ 2 M HCl or HNO3 ask Terese before use. Hydrofluoric acid (HF) is not allowed in this room!
For everyone’s safety you have to:
- Always put Name (clearly) and type of acid used (incl concentration) in the logbook.
- Always take care of spills immediately, if needed clean up with alkaline detergent and water. Absol is available if needed.
- Always use a box or tray underneath what you are washing. Never place the glass aso directly on the bench in the fume hood.
- Always use gloves and lab-coat and glasses. OBS, be careful not to splash acid on the lab-coat otherwise it will get damage. There are blue thick gloves in the room to borrow, please leave them in the room when done.
- Always make sure you leave MQ-water in the containers for the ppl coming after you.
- No storage of acids allowed, only course labs acids (labservice) may be stored. Acids are kept in researchers own lab.
If miss-use is observed or accident happens call Lab Service or the Technicians for help.
