Ashoka University, Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility
The Department of Cultural Sciences has a collaboration with Ashoka University in India between 2024 and 2027 under the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme. The project is led by Eleonor Marcussen and focuses on research in interdisciplinary humanities, with particular emphasis on postcolonialism and global humanities.
Application Open
Academic faculty staff and doctoral students within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities are invited to apply for participation in exchange with Ashoka University, India.
The goal of the collaboration is to enhance the quality of education and professional competencies through the development of teaching skills, methodological perspectives, and increased knowledge within the field of interdisciplinary humanities, with particular emphasis on colonial and postcolonial studies, as well as global humanities.
Doctoral candidates who participate will engage in Ashoka University’s graduate seminars and benefit from written and oral feedback from faculty members and fellow students at the university. A supervisor, who will act as a host and mentor, will be appointed for incoming doctoral candidates and will assist in coordinating seminar presentations and meetings in collaboration with regular doctoral candidates and faculty at Ashoka University.
Application for Doctoral Participation
Selection of doctoral candidates will be based on academic merit and availability of supervisors at the host institution. The following documents should be submitted with the application:
- A brief Curriculum Vitae (CV), maximum 2, A4 pages
- A personal statement
- A letter of recommendation from the students supervisor
- Approval for participation from the the department head
Participating doctoral students receive scholarship funding, including a lump sum for travel expenses, provided within the Erasmus+ ICM project. The scholarship amount varies according to the purpose and duration of participation. In general, the lump sum amounts to €700 per month of study or €56 per day, in addition to the lump sum for travel expenses.

Application for Faculty Participation
For faculty, there is the opportunity to undertake a two-week visit as a guest lecturer at Ashoka University. Participation in the project is compensated according to the applicable Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility grant amounts. For further details, please refer to the ICM handbook (link below). Approval for participation from the department head must be obtained prior to application.
