International Possibilities for Staff FKH
Participating in international exchanges has several positive effects and there are several opportunities available at Linnaeus University. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities wants all staff to be given the opportunity for international experience and perspective.
International Possibilities for Doctoral Students
As doctoral student at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities you have every opportunity to participate in an international research environment. Our knowledge environments are active in the international arena on many levels. Already on campus you will notice our international character, as many of our students are from other countries and our teachers and researchers participate in international networks and various exchanges.
All our doctoral students are encouraged to spend some of their doctoral studies at a foreign university. This is a unique opportunity for you to acquire new perspectives on your research, at the same time as you begin to build up a network of contacts and future partners outside Sweden's borders.
A stay abroad can be about everything from a couple of weeks of studying a course at a foreign university to a whole semester of collecting material in combination with, for example, participation in a conference. Discuss how you want to set up your stay abroad with your supervisor!
For this purpose, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities has funds set aside to cover costs for travel, subsistence and any course or conference fees. The Faculty receives applications on an ongoing basis, according to a simple procedure, and you apply for funding on the form below. The form is then sent to either Linda Pilttz or Carina Boman.

Linnaeus University Staff Training Week
Each year, Linnaeus University organises an international staff training week, where we welcome international colleagues from our partner universities around the world, both academic and administrative staff. During the week, several presentations and workshops will be held on topics related to intercultural competence, internationalisation at home and the global and virtual classroom.
These workshops/presentations/seminars are open to all employees from Linnaeus University (academic and administrative staff) and provide a fantastic opportunity for international networking, training in intercultural competence and English language skills, as well as increased competence in issues related to internationalisation. To participate you need approval from your head of department.
International Possibilities for Lecturers
International conference participation
As an employed lecturer / researcher at FKH, you apply for funding for conference participation directly via your head of department. Please contact your head of department for more information about the application procedure.
Staff Training mobility within the EU (Erasmus)
Training periods abroad can consist of shadowing, observation periods, professional development courses or specific competence-building events. The aim of the activity should be to learn new and innovative learning, teaching, administrative or management practices which afterwards can be applied by the staff participants at their home institution. It is important that learning mobility takes place within your own area of work and not linked to one's own research or research collaboration. More information can be found on the page for Training Opportunities Abroad through the Erasmus Programme.
Lecturer exchange within the EU (Erasmus)
If there is an Erasmus agreement with a partner university, there are also EU funds allocated for lecturer exchange. It is important that you communicate any possible exchange with your head of department before deciding to participate. The application is made on an ongoing basis and funds are allocated according to a standard amount that is affected by time and distance to the partner university. For more information please see the application page for Mobility through the Erasmus Programme.
Teacher exchange with sister university (bilateral agreements)
We also would like you as a lecturer to participate in exchanges with universities outside Europe. Every year, Linnaeus University has mobility funds set aside for exchanges with partners in university-wide collaborations. For more information please see the application page for Lnu Strategic Grant for Teacher Mobility.
STINT Teaching Sabbatical
Since 1999, the Foundation for the Internationalisation of Higher Education and Research has provided opportunities for lecturer exchanges within the STINT Teaching Sabbatical program (formerly Excellence in Teaching). The program aims to develop both individuals and institutions. STINT wants to contribute to the renewal of education and teaching and the creation of new networks. In our internal application process, the dean has the opportunity to appoint two candidates from his faculty. The nominee must be a PhD student, employed and well-established in the activities at Lnu. Based on the nominations / applications received, a maximum of two candidates are nominated from Lnu and nominated to STINT, which then makes decisions in consultation with its host universities in the USA, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. For more information see the staff pages for STINT Teaching Sabbatical Programme.

In order to carry out an exchange abroad, approval from the head of the Faculty Office is required. Feel free to involve the head of the Faculty Office already on the planning stage.
Training through Erasmus +
Through the Erasmus + program, it is possible to do job shadowing (where you follow a foreign colleague and learn new ways of working within your own work area). It is also possible to participate in courses, seminars or workshops as long as the content is relevant to your own work. Many of our partners often offer Staff Training Weeks on various themes, when new invitations are received they are sent staff within the faculty office.
Nordlys
Within the Nordlys network, it is possible go on administrative visits at one of the Nordic member universities (all multidisciplinary universities in the Nordic countries, including Greenland and the Faroe Islands). The visits are primarily aimed at staff who work with incoming or outgoing Nordlys students.
Feel free to contact agreements.fkh@lnu.se if you are interested in a Nordlys exchange and you will get help to identify possible partners.
