Course evaluations at the Faculty of Social Sciences
New routines for course evaluations from January 2024
Once the course has been completed, you as the course coordinator shall carry out a course evaluation. The department in question may have their own defined principles for how to conduct course evaluations – please contact the head of department concerned! If there are no specific directions applied and depending on the nature of the course, you yourself may decide on what method to use for collecting the students’ viewpoints.
One of the methods applied to collect the students’ viewpoints is by distributing a survey through Survey & Report. If this method has not previously been used for the course in question, you need to contact an administrator. Other possible collection methods may include a survey being posted on Moodle, distributed in some other way or handed out on paper by the course coordinator themselves. The course evaluation may also consist of an oral evaluation, focus group interview or some other method. What is most important is that a course evaluation is carried out!
It is also important that the students are given feedback on the results from the course evaluation carried out. The results and any suggestions on improvements regarding the course in question are posted on Moodle.
Course evaluations shall be followed up in collegial forums and shall be used as a basis for course development.
