Responsibility and mandate

The vice-chancellor has delegated overall responsibility for the following matters to the faculty boards:

first-, second-, and third-cycle education at their faculty
what programmes and courses should be offered at the faculty, along with number of places/FTEs
research at the faculty
follow-up of the faculty’s quality assurance procedures concerning education and research
contribution to, and facilitation of, cross-university collaborations in education, research, and third-stream activities
strategies and goals that are part of the university’s vision.

The vice-chancellor has delegated decision-making powers to the faculty boards for the following matters, with no further delegation allowed:

the faculty’s operational plan and budget, including follow-up in the form of annual reports
allocation of funds for research and third-cycle education
allocation of funds for first- and second-cycle education
general governing and policy documents
establishment and discontinuation of third-cycle subjects and ratification of general syllabi
programme syllabi and main fields of study for general qualifications
cancellation and discontinuation of degree programmes
appointment of honorary doctors
recruitment profiles for employment of professors for an indefinite period of time (subject to consultation with the vice-chancellor).
