Learning Environment
The management object "Learning Environment" belongs to the University library and is responsible for the major part of Linnaeus University's digital learning environment. Some of the best known parts of this are Mymoodle and LnuPlay.
In collaboration with both the IT department and the faculties ICT pedagogues we strive to provide you, as a teacher, with contemporary tools and pedagogical support for your work.
We also produce guides, manuals and instructional videos about the systems we manage. See the list of links below.
If you want to get in touch with us, feel free to drop us a line at utbildningsmiljo@lnu.se
The systems we manage
We are responsible for a number of the IT systems that are used in education at Lnu, such as Moodle (Lnu's learning platform), LnuPlay (media system), Zoom (e-meeting service) and Survey & Report (surveys and course evaluations).
We are also responsible for the anti plagiarism system, Ouriginal and "Kursrumsportalen" which is used to automatically create course and program rooms in our learning platform (Moodle).
The managing object Learning Environment is one of thirteen managing objects at Linnaeus University.
How we work
The management of IT systems is governed by the so called pm3 model which means that the objects is supposed to be a link between the system and its users, that is staff and students at Lnu. We are to provide pedagogical oppurtunities that are asked for by the users within a reasonable budget and in accordance with the appropriations directives from the government concerning IT and legal certainty. It is our job to have the users perspective in mind while keeping a foot in the technical and practical reality.
In order to better understand the end users needs, we each month meet representatives (called object specialists) from the five faculties and discuss the management work and what needs to be improved. In the same way we equally often meet with the IT departments object specialists coming from infra structure, development, testing and support to discuss needs and problems that might have occured and how they best can be addressed.
The road map for our work is outlined in our annual management plan along with the budget. There is also some wiggle room for "improvisation" when it comes to needs and problems that my appear during each management year. The work is lead by a management leader and an IT management leader who together handles the balance between management and development of our components. We have a guiding body consisting of the head of the IT department and the object owner which is the head of the University library.
We who work here
We are a small organisation with a big area of responsibility where it, in addition to the management work, also includes "supporting the supporters". This means that we give support to the ICT trainers (pedagogues) in the faculties who, in return, works directly with the teachers and other staff. We also give support to the IT support who are responsible for the "first line" technical support to students and staff.
