National funding
Grants and Innovation Office (GIO) is in contact with the Swedish research funding bodies and provides information about calls and news to researchers and doctoral students. We sometimes invite the financiers to present their activities and current calls.
In Sweden, research is funded by government agencies, public foundations and private financiers. Link to the Research Professionel database with open calls from Swedish financiers.
Below are briefly described some of the largest research funding bodies.
The Swedish Research Council
The Swedish Research Council (VR) is Sweden's largest research funder. VR provides support for basic research of the highest scientific quality in all areas of science. VR's calls take place mostly during the winter and spring major call.
Formas
Formas – The Research Council for the Environment, Agricultural Industries and Community Building – is one of four government research funders. Formas funds basic research and needs-motivated research in the areas of environment, areaal industries and community building. Formas announces just over half of its funds during the spring's major call.
Forte
Forte - The Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare - funds research for human health, working life and welfare. Forte's calls take place largely during the winter and spring major call.
Vinnova
Vinnova - The Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems - is tasked with promoting sustainable growth by improving the conditions for innovation and funding needs-motivated research.
KK Foundation
The Knowledge Foundation funds research and competence development that takes place in collaboration, in order to strengthen Sweden's competitiveness.
The Knowledge Foundation offers great opportunities for those higher education institutions that want to develop and strategically build complete and internationally competitive research and education environments.
Kamprad Family Foundation
The Kamprad Family Foundation's purpose is to support, stimulate and reward education and scientific research in such a way that entrepreneurship, the environment, skills, health and social development are promoted. Through a focus on implementation, the ambition is that results can benefit the many people as soon as possible and with cost-effectiveness.
Riksbankens Jubileumsfond
Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (RJ) is an independent foundation that funds humanities and social science research. RJ announces a large part of its funds during the winter call.
Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation
The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW) is Sweden's largest private research funder. KAW supports projects of high scientific potential and provides individual support to prominent researchers. The grants go mainly to research in science, technology and medicine, with the exception of individual support that goes to all areas of science.
Other Wallenberg Foundations
The Wallenberg Foundations are the collective name for the foundations founded by members of the Wallenberg family. The foundations fund research in medicine, humanities, social sciences, economics, law and learning.
Prisma application portal
The Swedish Research Council, Forte, Formas, skolforskningsinstitutet, Naturvårdsverket, Rymdstyrelsen have their own application portal, Prisma.
To create an account click on the following link: https://prisma.research.se/ (for login, creation of personal account, etc). If you need user support, use this link (user manuals and instructions): http://prismasupport.research.se/ For Prisma's support form (for example, to report problems creating a personal account in Prisma): http://prismasupport.research.se/skicka-din-fraga-till-prisma-support.html
Since SWAMID is down indefinitely, create a personal account and log in with a password to Prisma. This also applies to those who have an account. When creating a personal account (for those of you who do not already have) we recommend selecting "Create personal account with SWAMID" (orange box). Then you can then use the regular Lnu login to log in even in Prisma.

Fundraising
Fundraising is a complement to traditional funding and means that Linnaeus University seeks support from companies, public organizations, private foundations and private individuals for new purposes of external interest. Carefully prepared and well-established fundraising work can create new resources with more external sources of funding, new forms of funding and in-depth collaboration with external parties, thereby making new types of investments possible. Fundraising requires prioritization and support from the relevant department and faculty.
For questions about fundraising, feel free to contact Ylva Dandanell, Karin Lundhgren.

Impact in research applications
The innovation advisors at LNU Innovation are happy to help early in the work with research applications to identify and concretize how you can and want to work with impact and utilization in your research project.
Impact planning canvas (IPC)
IPC is a simple tool to quickly sketch out how you plan to work with impact in your research. After a 1-2 hour workshop, you have an overview of how you in your project plan to create and measure your impact.

Hire project managers and / or researchers for larger projects
Large research projects require a lot of administration. Because of this, you need to consider hiring a professional project manager. It will be especially important when you are the coordinator for large framework program projects, but it may also be needed for larger national projects. In most programs, you can budget for a project manager already when you apply for funding.
Feel free to contact the Grants and Innovation Office to discuss this.
If you need to employ someone in the project, it´s essential that the Head of Departement is involved in the process. The area of recruitment is wide and has many regulations for Linnaeus University as a governmental employer. The decision of employment is made according to the Vice-chancellors decision-making procedure and delegation of authority which is why the Head of Dept needs to be involved early in the process together with the Office of HR.
