Strategic agreements for researchers and staff
Linnaeus University is part of a number of different strategic agreements with a focus on deepening collaborations that benefit education, research and collaboration.
The list below contains more information about each agreement and who you can contact if you want more detailed information about the university's collaborations.
Research agreement Växjö municipality
Linnaeus University and Växjö municipality are part of a research agreement (until 2026) consisting of SEK 2 million per year that the municipality dedicates to various research projects of mutual interest between the parties. The research agreement aims to find research projects based on common strategic areas and mutual interests, as well as based on the municipality's needs and wishes as well as LNU's research profile. Decisions on funding are made in the research agreement's management team, where Deputy Vice-Chancellor Ann-Charlotte Larsson and Municipal Manager Monica Skagne sit.
- Project applications are submitted to the review group on an ongoing basis to elin.lindkvist@lnu.se
- The funds will primarily go to research fees and related expenses and the maximum amount to apply for amounts to SEK 500,000 / year for each project.
- The possibility of increasing the resources invested through other external financing shall always be tested.
- Currently, priority is given to research projects in the following areas; education, technology, digitalisation, sustainability and integration.
- When the project ends, a shorter final report must be submitted.

Research agreement Kalmar municipality
Linnaeus University and Kalmar municipality have a research agreement (until 2027) and contain SEK 1.5 million per year that the municipality invests in collaborative activities, research projects, services, utilizing research results and / or to strengthen investments Linnaeus University makes. The research agreement aims to strengthen Linnaeus University's collaboration both Kalmar municipality and other actors in the Kalmar area. Focus areas are linked to sustainable development and climate change and will link to common strategic areas and Linnaeus University's research profile. Decisions on funding are made in the research agreement's operational management team, where Deputy Vice-Chancellor Ann-Charlotte Larsson and Municipal Manager Anette Andersson sit.
- SEK 250 thousand has been reserved to enable researcher participation in innovation teams, projects and activities within Climate Neutral Kalmar 2030.
- SEK 1.25 million is distributed after call 1 time /year. Applications are sent to erika.lundby@lnu.se
- The funds can go to research fees and related expenses in connection with projects, activities and maximum amount to apply for amounts to SEK 300 thousand / year and for a maximum of two years.
- The possibility of increasing the resources invested through other external financing shall always be tested.
- When a granted project has been completed, a shorter final report must be given to the operational steering group and results disseminated to relevant staff groups / actors within Kalmar municipality.

Collaboration agreement Linnaeus University, Region Kalmar County and Region Kronoberg
Linnaeus University, Region Kalmar County and Region Kronoberg have a mutual interest in strengthening and developing long-term collaboration between academia, business and the public sector. The collaboration agreement aims at the regions' societal development and innovation power through educational collaboration and research collaboration, but focuses on the following areas:
- Improved health and quality of life
- Increased ability to meet societal challenges
- Increased innovation capacity
- Increased attractiveness

Collaboration agreement between Linnaeus University and Ljungby municipality
Linnaeus University and Ljungby municipality have a mutual interest in strengthening and developing long-term collaboration between academia, business and the public sector in Ljungby municipality and the surrounding area. The purpose of the agreement is to create conditions through which the parties' collaboration mediates contacts, knowledge and expertise between academia, culture, business, public activities and the surrounding society.
The agreement focuses on the following three areas:
- Research collaboration, where collaborations strengthen or develop research at Linnaeus University and strengthen the collaboration partner's competence.
- Educational collaboration, where collaborations strengthen or develop higher education (including commissioned education) at Linnaeus University and strengthen the collaboration partner's competence and competitiveness.
- Societal benefits, where collaborations create benefits for private and public activities in the region and strengthen Linnaeus University.

Strategic agreement Kalmar, Växjö, Linnaeus Union and Linnaeus University
Linnaeus University is part of a strategic agreement with the host municipalities of Växjö and Kalmar together with the Linnaeus Union with the aim of working to develop good relations and development between the parties, work for an attractive knowledge environment.
The focus area is to promote competence provision by strengthening the connection between education and working life, but also to collaborate on attractiveness, as well as research and knowledge development.

The purpose of the agreement is to create conditions through which the parties' collaboration mediates contacts, knowledge and expertise between academia, culture, business, public activities and the surrounding society.

Collaboration agreement between Linnaeus University, Södra and IKEA
The Bridge is a long-term and strategic investment in research and education with a focus on forestry, innovation and sustainability. The initiative is made possible through a partnership between Linnaeus University, Södra and IKEA with the aim of achieving a dynamic exchange between academia and industry.
The ambition is to create new groundbreaking innovations and mutual benefits that strengthen regional competitiveness and increase international visibility. The collaboration also supports Linnaeus University's unique master's programmes in both forestry and innovation and has strong links to the wood-based industry.
