Software for research

This page gives you as a researcher an overview of some of the systems and software available at Linnaeus University. You will find information about different tools that can support you in your research work, as well as important guidelines for how they should be used from an information security perspective.

Information security classification

As a researcher, you often handle different types of data and information that may require different levels of security. To support you in choosing the right tool for your specific research project and the type of data you work with, we present below a brief description of the different levels of the university's information classification.

 The university's three levels of information classification:

  • Level 1: Open information (Information that is openly available to the public).
  • Level 2: General information (Public documents that do not contain confidential or sensitive personal data. Work materials and internal information. May contain personal data and in some cases confidential information (weak confidentiality)).
  • Level 3: Information in need of extended protection (Sensitive personal data and confidential information (strong and absolute confidentiality) and business-critical information).
