Software for research
This page gives you as a researcher an overview of some of the systems and software available at Linnaeus University. You will find information about different tools that can support you in your research work, as well as important guidelines for how they should be used from an information security perspective.
Information security classification
As a researcher, you often handle different types of data and information that may require different levels of security. To support you in choosing the right tool for your specific research project and the type of data you work with, we present below a brief description of the different levels of the university's information classification.

The university's three levels of information classification:
- Level 1: Open information (Information that is openly available to the public).
- Level 2: General information (Public documents that do not contain confidential or sensitive personal data. Work materials and internal information. May contain personal data and in some cases confidential information (weak confidentiality)).
- Level 3: Information in need of extended protection (Sensitive personal data and confidential information (strong and absolute confidentiality) and business-critical information).

Description:
Geographic information system that enables processing, presentation, and distribution of geographic data.

Description:
Microsoft's Copilot is a cloud-based AI chatbot service that can be used for various tasks such as generating text and images, analyzing data, processing text, programming, and much more.

Description:
Reference management tool for academic writing. Enables efficient organization of references, automatic citation, and bibliography management. Includes tools for collaboration and reference sharing among researchers.

Sunet Drive (Storage)
Description:
Sunet Drive is a national storage and file-sharing service based on the Nextcloud interface and S3-standard storage in a private cloud, on servers in Sweden. File and folder management is done either through Nextcloud's web interface or through Nextcloud's synchronization client, which can be installed on your computer.
