This guide provides an overview of the support and resources available to students from the University Library.
Reading, writing, and oral presentation
In the Academic Skills Centre course room, students and teachers can get guidance from Text Supervisors and Special Needs Teachers. Students can also book individual tutoring sessions as well as find links to relevant resources.
In the menu Writing and referencing, students can find advice about academic writing and study skills. The page about referencing includes guides to the most common referencing systems. The Academic writing pages provide information and material about academic language, the structure of academic texts, and the writing process.
Refero – A Guide to Academic Integrity and Reference Management is a web-based learning resource created to help students in higher education learn more about academic integrity and understand what reference management entails. At the end of the guide, there is a quiz that students can take to test their knowledge, and that teachers can use as inspiration to create their own quizzes in Moodle.
Lund University offers an online course in academic writing in English, Writing in English at University. The course contains videos and optional exercises and covers the different stages of the writing process as well as peer review, the structure of academic texts and referencing. All videos are available on Youtube.
In the Writing Guide, – the students will find reviews of the different parts of the academic text and examples of what to keep in mind when writing such a text.
Creative commons for students – is a short guide to creative commons for students. Here students can learn more about how to use creative commons licensed material and how to license material students have made.
Information Searching and Source Criticism
Introduction to information retrieval
A self-study guide for beginners that provides basic knowledge in information searching. Takes about 30 minutes to complete.
The basics of searching for and evaluating information - an epic adventure
A self-study guide that teaches the basics of information searching through an adventure format. Takes about 35 minutes to complete.
Self-Study Guide for thesis work
Students learn to search for material for their thesis, formulate research questions, find keywords, and search in databases. Includes theory and practical exercises. Takes about 30-40 minutes to complete.
Self-study guide for literature review as a thesis
A six-step guide to searching, evaluating, and documenting material for a literature review. Includes texts, videos, and exercises. Each step begins with a short section and ends with a "Try it yourself" section. Takes about 2-3 hours to complete (excluding the "Try it yourself" sections). The guide can be used as support throughout the entire literature review.
