Guide System - Inline Manual
Inline Manual is a guide system that from April 2018 has been launched for Mymoodle as a way to offer direct guiding and help with handling the learning platform. The help you need, when you need it.
During the winter of 2017-1018 Learning Environment has been hard at work developing a new way to offer support to both staff and students in their daily work with Mymoodle. We have been trying to identify common issues and questions that you might have and built interactive guides that takes you step-by-step through process of either creating new content or (as a student) perform activites in the course room.
What's Inline Manual?
Inline Manual is the name of the guide system that is placed as a "layer" on top of the web page and that can be triggered either by you or automatically based on where you are in Mymoodle.
The system keeps track of where you are and presents contextual help guides for that area.
The guides helps you focus on what to do next, for instance to click on a specific button, and when you have completed the guide you are ready to start using the tool/activity you chose to be guided in. No more need to read a manual before doing something, instead you actually perform the steps as you learn.
Inline Manual is a small company situated in the Czech republic (Prague) and we are in constant contact with their developers to have this tool evolve in to something really useful to you.

How does it work?
The first time you log in to Mymoodle after the system is installed, you will see an information popup presented giving you some important information. This popup can be closed and you won't see it again.
When ever you need help, just click the blue button "Mymoodle Help" in the bottom right corner and you will be presented to a number of guides and articles based on where you are in Mymoodle. The system knows where you are and tries to give you relevant guides for the context.
By clicking a guide you will (usually) start a step-by-step guide that takes you through the full process of doing what you want to achieve. You can cancel the guide at any time by clicking the small X in the top right corner of the guide.
When you complete the guide you are also finished doing what you set out to do.
Please note that at the moment the guides are not available on mobile devices.
What kind of info do you save?
Inline Manual keeps track of your username, your role in Mymoodle and what guides you have started to use. This means that you can be presented with help that is targeted and suitable to your role (teacher, administrator, student and so on) and that you (upcoming feature) can continue taking guides where you left off.
The information is also used to keep track of what popups, warnings and other information you have seen so that you don't have to be "plagued" by things you no longer wish to see.
