a passage with beams and glass

Smart Housing Småland

Smart Housing Småland is building an internationally leading innovation environment that, focused on the user, creates smart housing and sustainable built environment based on glass and wood.

Smart Housing Småland is an innovation environment in which business, academia and public sector work together to meet several of the challenges of the future: the need for new housing and the need to build space efficient, flexible, modern, energy efficient and sustainable. With the user in focus, our goal is to create smart housing and sustainable built environment using a combination of wood and glass.

The work begins in Småland where we have the knowledge, the history and the raw materials for wood and glass, but the goal is an internationally leading innovation environment that creates an increased choice of attractive, sustainable and competitive housing in the market.

Behind the initiative are a large number of companies all over Småland, all three county administrative boards and regional federations, Linnaeus University and Jönköping University. Responsible for the project is RISE, Research Institutes of Sweden.
