Work Towards Decolonization: Oahpahus, Oahpahanvuohki and Oahpisteapmi in Sápmi, Weskohsek, Wazica, and Waaswaaganing.

The protracted, ongoing effects of colonization in Sápmi and in North America will require generations of dedicated decolonization. Extensive and daunting though this task can seem, practices that contribute to decolonization can be both straightforward and concrete, conditioning a context that is receptive to cultural affirmation, reclamation, and self-determination. This presentation examines acts of decolonization in Sápmi and Indigenous Wisconsin, and the roles institutions of higher education can play in decolonizing societies.
