About the seminar

Pia Koskela is a Swedish comics artist who published her Swedish graphic novel/graphic memoir Karelen. En resa, två krig och minnet av en far [Karelia. A journey, two wars and the memory of a father] in 2021. It is a multimodal work in which Koskela uses a wide range of sources and material: family snapshots, songs, drawings, maps etc. At this IMS seminar, Pia Koskela will introduce us to her work and present the multifarious ways she used to get hold of the memory of her father and her Karelian roots.
