National FORSA Symposium 2022

Welcome to the national FORSA symposium at Linnaeus University in Växjö on 8–9 November.

Conference closed

The symposium aims to be a national meeting place to strengthen cooperation between research, education and practice in social work in the spirit of FORSA by promoting the development of knowledge and in-depth discussions on equal terms between different actors and stakeholders in social work.

FORSA Småland this time organizes the national symposium in collaboration with FORSA Sweden and Linnaeus University. The National Association of Social Work (CSA) and Linnaeus University, Department of Social Work sponsor the symposium.

The theme of the 2022 national symposium is:

Social sustainability and sustainable social work

Social work has a central role in working for an equal society – a socially sustainable society where people's basic needs and human rights are guaranteed. To achieve this, conditions must also exist for sustainable social work where the knowledge and competencies of different actors can be translated into action. In 2010, three organizations working to strengthen social work globally launched The Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development (2010). The agenda identified four themes or pillars:

  • Promoting social and economic equality
  • Promoting human dignity and value
  • Promoting community and environmental sustainability
  • Strengthening recognition of the importance of human relations

During the symposium, plenary lectures and parallel seminars are arranged with presentations related to these themes. The symposium provides a meeting place to discuss with and learn from each other about social sustainability and sustainable social work.
