(Re)imagining media objects, social actors and their relationships 2000-2025.
Michael Karlsson is a professor in media and communication at Karlstad University and has studied the transition of journalism from analogue to digital platforms since the shift of millennium. His primary interests are related to autonomy, norms and journalism’s role in society. In this talk he will draw from his previous research to discuss what relationships, mediums, media objects and subjects are considered worthy of attention and how this change over time. Focal points will be multimodality, user participation, and platform driven algorithmic decision-making.
