Media, modes and learning: Intermedial Relations and Literacy
Seminar on Intermedial Relations and Literacy
On May 28, 13.15-14.45, the IMS Literacy research group invites colleagues to a seminar on intermedial relations and their role in learning, teaching, and literacy. We will discuss and introduce the concept of intermedial literacy with Miriam Vieira, Ana Munari, Camila Figueiredo, and Erika Vieira, authors of the chapter “Intermediality, Teaching, Literacy” from the Palgrave Handbook of Intermediality (2024). In their chapter, Vieira et al. explore the potential of intermediality as critical media literacy and discuss the necessary conditions for systematically introducing intermediality studies into pedagogical practices.
With this seminar, the IMS Literacy group aims to lay the foundation for developing a network for intermedial didactic research at IMS.
We welcome all colleagues interested in the role of modes and media in learning to join the seminar and future network activities!
